Currently, over 27,000 HP in these motors are in use. The interest of these motors is growing rapidly in rural areas of North and South America where large motors are needed for irrigation and pumping operations, crop processing, grain drying and other similar needs, and where only single-phase electricity is available.
These features along with a high starting torque per amp allow WP motors as large as 100 horsepower (75 kilowatt) to be operated on single-phase power lines that would normally be limited to 10 horsepower (9 kilowatt) or less. In addition, high efficiency and high running unity power factor allow WP motors to operate with a lower total input current, at equivalent voltage, per horsepower than any conventional induction motor available single-phase or three-phase. SPPS Written-Pole (WP) synchronous motors are highly efficient (93+%) and require a starting current that is less than two times full load running current. Let me give you an overview - in layman's terms - of our unique, large horsepower, single-phase SPPS Written-Pole® electric motors.
